DHUL-HIJJAH 2024 KEY DATES

Don’t Miss Out on the Key Dates for Dhul Hijjah!

Ensure your calendars are marked to make the most of the blessed first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, a period that holds a special place in the Islamic calendar. These days are considered the most virtuous of the year, offering a unique chance for spiritual growth and increased acts of worship.

Key Highlights:

  • Day of Arafah: The peak of these sacred days, occurring the day before Eid al-Adha, encompasses fasting, prayer, and charitable deeds.

As we approach these sacred days, let us engage deeply in seeking Allah’s forgiveness, performing good deeds, and intensifying our worship, keeping in mind the immense rewards promised for these actions.

Tips to Maximize the Blessed Days:

  1. Read the Quran: Engage in the recitation of the Quran, and read it with the translation to maximize its impact. Even dedicating a few verses each day can accumulate great rewards.
  2. Increase Nawaafil Prayers: Observe additional voluntary prayers throughout the day to enhance your worship and accumulate more good deeds.
  3. Engage in Dhikr: Remember Allah abundantly during these days. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “There are no days that are greater before Allah or in which good deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days. So, recite a great deal of Tahleel, Takbeer, and Tahmeed during them” [Ahmad].
    • Tahmeed: Al-hamdu Lillah (All praises be to Allah)
    • Tahleel: Laa ilaha ill-Allah (There is no god but Allah)
    • Tasbeeh: Subhaan-Allah (Glory be to Allah)
  4. Seek Forgiveness (Istighfaar): Utilize these blessed days to seek forgiveness for any wrongdoings and sins committed.
  5. Fasting: It is a Sunnah for Muslims to fast on the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah, as fasting is among the most virtuous deeds. Additionally, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Fasting the day of `Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one” [Muslim].
  6. Give in Charity: Extend acts of charity during these blessed days, contributing as much as you are able to.
  7. Maintain Ties of Kinship: Upholding the bonds of kinship is among the noblest deeds. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever would like his provision to be increased and his lifespan to be extended, let him maintain the ties of kinship” [Bukhari].
  8. Qurbani: This is a religious practice of sacrificing an animal during the festival of Eid al-Adha as an act of devotion and gratitude to Allah. It is generally recommended to give the value of one sheep or goat for Qurbani.

Prepare yourself to engage in these practices and make the most of this blessed time. May Allah accept our good deeds and grant us His immense blessings.
